The Oviatt House was built in 1882 by Moses Hooper, an Oshkosh attorney. In 1912, after the death of its second owner, physician and surgeon C.W. Oviatt, the gray stone house was purchased by the Oshkosh Normal School for use as a women’s dormitory. During the Great Depression, it became the school’s president’s home.
Since 1990, it has housed the UW Oshkosh Foundation, which coordinates all fundraising efforts for the University and oversees the distribution of school scholarships.
The Oviatt House is on the National Register of Historic Homes.
